Bonjour!
We had a very successful languages day at school today. Many of the children came dressed in clothes with a red, white and blue theme, which ties in nicely with our main language – French.
The day kicked off with KS1 enjoying an archery workshop, followed by Mrs Jackson’s rendition of “La Chenille qui fait des Trous” (“The Hungry Caterpillar”). All the children had an art session with Ms Cordingley and Mrs McClaren and produced some lovely pictures using the pointillism technique made famous by artists such as Seurat and Pissarro.
KS2 had taster sessions of fencing and ultimate frisbee and both classes had the chance to learn a samba dance with music by the French artist France Gall. We had some super movers and great fun was had by all.
The children finished off the day back with their class teachers doing other language related activities. A big thank you to Mrs Pemberton for arranging a food tasting/preparing session for KS1.
The children shared the day with parents at an end of day assembly.
A enormous thank from me to all the staff for running the activities and all the children for taking part so enthusiastically.
Mrs Denison
