This term the children in KS2 are starting a new topic “Le Monde”. I hope that by the end of the unit most of the children in both classes will be able to identify and pronounce the names of some countries and towns, know the points of the compass in French, sing a song or recite a poem from memory on a related topic, copy accurately in writing key words and phrases from the unit, listen to a story and select key words and phrases, and devise and perform a short sketch, in small groups, using structures learnt in the unit.

Some children in Y5/6 should progress much further and will: use and apply material from memory, in both speaking and writing, research additional vocabulary using a dictionary and research new ideas from other sources and incorporate this into their learning.

KS1 will be listening and joining in with songs, games and stories in simple French.
