Our class is Reception and Year One, with Year Two joining us in the afternoon. Our class teachers are Mrs Burton and Mrs Rotchell, supported by Mrs Wragg and Mrs O’Leary and Mrs Davies.
Remember, you can log on to Seesaw to see what is happening in Acorn Class – children’s home learning, photos and messages are posted on there, so it is a marvellous ‘catch up’ and ‘find out’ tool!
Our PE day this year is Wednesday – please can the children come to school in their PE kit on PE days, with long hair tied back and earrings either removed or covered.
The mobile library will visit on alternate Tuesday afternoons starting 10th September 2024 – books to be returned to school alternate Tuesdays, please!
The children have homework projects which are optional, based on our topic, and can be worked on over the whole half term. Please do send photos of your completed projects to school via Seesaw as each week we enjoy sharing and celebrating completed projects in class. Year One children will receive spelling homework each week. This will be handed out on a Friday and will focus on the tricky words taught that week. The children will not be formally tested on these words, but we will be looking to see evidence that they are spelling them correctly in their written work. There are two types of reading books that your child will be bringing home: A reading practice book which will be carefully matched to your child’s current reading level (please ensure this comes to school every day) and a Sharing Book from the mobile library – return alternate weeks. Your child’s new Practice Book will be sent home every Thursday. If your child is reading it with little help, please don’t worry that it’s too easy – your child needs to develop fluency and confidence when reading.
We plan to visit the Future Forest on a regular basis, when it best enhances our curriculum. Please ensure there are always wellies and a warm/waterproof coat in school!

There are lots of ways to support your child at home and to build on what they learn in school. Reading with or to people in your family is a great one! Please remember to sign your child’s Reading Diary to say that they have read. This is a really good way to communicate with school.
