Message from PTA – St Crux

The home baked cakes and savouries completely sold out, as people queued out of the door to indulge in the delicious treats for our good cause. We also had very little pre-loved items left, the remainder of which were donated to a local charity. The children even rallied for extra support, shaking their donation buckets and chanting for Naburn Primary.
We’d like to thank everyone who came along to the sale for their generosity and support. It was lovely to meet so many people who spoke enthusiastically about our small, village school and praised the efforts being made.
We managed to raise a whopping £1,260, which was then very generously added to by one of the governors, giving a grand total of £1,360.
I cannot thank everyone enough for their contribution to this event. From the amazing items that were donated for us to sell, the home baked goods that were made, as well as the groceries and money that was very generously given, everything counted to making this a success. Also, huge thank you’s to those who gave up their day and worked so hard on the stalls and in the cafe, including the children. We really have some budding entrepreneurs.
We might be the smallest school in York but the passion and love our parents and children have for the school make us a strong and determined team. Nothing demonstrates this better than last weekend, as parents, children, teachers and even ex pupil parents came and worked throughout the day to make the event a success.Friends of Naburn CE Primary School
I would like to echo everything that Alexis has written below with one ‘thank you’ addition. Our PTA are just superb and I never cease to be amazed by their commitment and dedication to our lovely school. I am sure you will join me in thanking them for all they did to prepare for St Crux and make it the incredible success that it was. In particular, I would like to thank Rachel and Alexis.

Don’t forget that we also need good quality, pre-loved items to sell. A perfect chance for that Spring clear out or to alleviate yourself of unwanted Christmas presents, guilt free, as it’s for a good cause. Please have a good look around to see if there’s anything that you could donate. We are unable to sell electrical items, CDs, videos. DVDs, books, knives/sharps or clothing but gratefully welcome other items. Toys must have the CE mark on them for us to be able to sell.
If you are able to donate any items please bring them to the school gates on Wednesday 8th or Thursday 9th March 2023, between 8:45 – 9:00. Or, call the school to arrange an alternative drop off time.
For anyone who’s bringing food or baked items in please bring these to the school gates on Friday 10th March between 8.45 – 9:00. The St Crux event itself is on Saturday 11th March 2023 – it would be fabulous to see as many of you there as possible.
All funds raised will go back into school, to boost much needed funds and to help make sure the children have the best experiences they can whilst at Naburn School.Friends of Naburn CE Primary School

Message from the PTA (Friends of Naburn CE Primary School)
The Friends of Naburn Primary School have some exciting things coming up over the next few weeks, the details of which we can now share with you.
Everyone loves a raffle, especially when the prize is a luxurious hamper, packed full of delicious treats from Selfridges. This is just what we have on offer this term and could be yours if you purchase the winning raffle ticket. The hamper includes, hot chocolate, orange & cinnamon spiced tea, gingerbread cookies, a festive biscuit selection, cinnamon & chocolate almonds, chocolate orange & salted caramel spread, the biggest bar of milk chocolate, rose and lemon Turkish delight, chocolate orange panettone and a cherry and sherry pudding, plus a few other scrumptious surprises.
This is packaged in a gorgeous, Selfridges wicker basket, with signature, yellow buckles, which could be re-used time and time again to picnic in style. If you would like to be in with a chance of winning this amazing hamper (sold in Selfridges for £250) please pop into the school office to purchase some raffle tickets. Tickets are £1 each and the draw will take place at 3.15 on Wednesday 8th February, in the school playground.
Just a reminder that letters have gone out asking for support with the St Crux event. This is a fantastic fundraiser for the school, but is only possible if our community comes together and everyone gets involved in some way. We’ll be asking for donations of good quality, pre-loved items, as well as homebaked goods and groceries. It’s a perfect opportunity to alleviate yourself of any unwanted Christmas presents. Please look out for the letter and help in anyway you can. Also, if you are able to help on the day (Saturday 11th March, 8am – 4pm) please let the school office know, even if this would be just for an hour or so.
Your support and time given to our events is hugely appreciated. It helps us to raise extra funds for the school, which contributes to our children having the best school experiences they can.Friends of Naburn CE Primary School

Love is in the air…or at least it will be in the village hall on Friday, 10 February, at our Valentine’s disco (18:00 – 19:00). This is a fantastic way to celebrate the end of half term and for the children to show love for themselves, as well as each other. Children are encouraged to come dressed in the clothes they love and will be asked nearer the time to tell us the songs they love, which will be played by our DJ at the disco. Tickets are £3, or 2 siblings for £5, payable on the door. There will be sweet treats on sale, at a small price. All children must be accompanied by one supervising adult. We hope to see as many of you there as possible.

Friends Of Naburn Meeting, 12-1-23
We would love for you to come along and be involved. You don’t have to commit to anything at all (but if you did that would be fantastic). We would just appreciate the engagement from you about what you think the children will enjoy and ways to get involved further in the community, as well as raise loads of cash too. The meeting will be held in the school hall on Thursday 12 January at 6pm.
Please do come along….there’ll be nibbles!Friends Of Naburn

To go with these, we’re asking for you to boost the prizes on offer by donating something for the raffle please. We would welcome things like bottles, chocolates, posh biccies, chutneys, small gift sets. Anything big or small would be very much appreciated.
Don’t forget, we have our delicious Christmas puddings available. These come in three scrumptious flavours, ultimate plum pudding, sticky toffee pudding and luscious lemon, at £7 each. These are a perfect desert for the big day or would be a lovely gift. If you would like one, or two, please complete the slip at the back of the newsletter and hand into the school office with payment please. Remember, these aren’t just any Christmas puddings, they’re Naburn puddings!!
And, as if this isn’t enough, we’re happy to announce we’ll be holding another film night for the children. This will be straight after school, on Friday 9 December (pick up time to be confirmed once the film has been chosen). We will be casting the vote for the film next week, but it will no doubt be one full of Christmas cheer. The cost is £3 per child or £5 for 2 siblings and they’ll be popcorn and juice on offer. If you would like your child/children to stay for festive film night, please complete the other slip at the back of the newsletter.
As always, please get in touch if you would like to help or be part of the PTA. We’re only a small group and have some fantastic ideas we’d love to bring to the school.
