Following the unprecedented disruption to education as a result of coronavirus (COVID-19), schools were allocated additional funding in 2020-2021 to support their work in βcatching upβ their children. This was known as the Covid Catch Up Premium, and later became the Recovery Premium which was then withdrawn in 2024.
Schools were directed to use this funding for specific activities to support their pupils to catch up for lost teaching over the previous months and were were given the flexibility to spend their funding in the best way for their cohort and circumstances.
In the following years the reporting of the spending of Recovery Premium was integrated into the Pupil Premium Strategy.
